Conference Hopping 2014 with ShipStation

Wow, is it the end of March already?

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the events ShipStation would be attending soon.

I wanted to take a few minutes now to give you a recap of those events.

MivCon – San Diego – March 5th to 7th
This is the annual user conference for online retailers who use Miva Merchant.

This year’s Miva conference is one that stood out from other conferences that I’ve attended by the simple fact that it was more like a business conference. About 80-90% of the content was on how to make one’s business more successful rather than why you should use Miva. It is clear that Miva has a vision of helping their customers succeed not only in using their app but even more so in understanding SEO, the changes with a growing company and even how to assess and take risks. Miva gets it. Oh, and their new interface that is coming out looks very solid and fluid as well.

Start-up Crawl – Pre-SXSW event – Austin – March 6th

This Capital Factory sponsored event happens twice a year and gives folks the opportunity to meet with and learn about tons of Austin-based start-ups. We had a booth in the lobby of the Omni building (home-base for the crawl). It was so awesome to meet everyone!

Volusion’s South X Commerce – Austin – March 9th

We were more than happy to take part in the event with our partner Volusion. Another partner, Endicia, also took part along with a handful of our ecommerce service providers. It was a great event held at Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop (I do recommend this space if you are looking for something unique in Austin for an after-hours party).

SXSW Interactive Trade Show – Austin – March 9th to 12th

What better way to take part in SXSW than to be right in the thick of it?!? We set-up shop in the “start-up corner” with NASA as our neighbor. Yes, NASA.

Amidst all that SXSW has to offer: the rolling robots, free beer, werewolf fiddle player (true story), and MORE, I wasn’t sure how people would respond to ShipStation. However, after talking to several interested passers-by, I realized that almost everyone has a connection to eCommerce; whether they dabbled in selling online or have a friend or family member that owns their own eCommerce business, ShipStation made sense to them. It was refreshing to reach a whole new crowd at SXSW and realize yet again how eCommerce is shaping the future for businesses and individuals alike.

Catalyst – Las Vegas March 10th to 12th

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. Channel Advisor always puts on a good show and this year’s Catalyst didn’t disappoint. We were super excited to attend this partner event and had a great time visiting with current and potential customers.

We’re taking a short breather from events for a bit, but I’ll post again when our next round starts up.

Onward and Upwards.
